Ali's Story

I had read about and seen shelters on TV- cold, sterile, cement, metal bunks beds. What I found was a warm, loving home where my little sister and I could be kids without worrying about where we would sleep that night or what our next meal would be.”

In 1990, a chance encounter with a homeless father and son changed the life of Denny Hancock forever.  With the support of family and friends, Denny founded Mamma’s Hands and, in 1994, the House of Hope.  Our mission is to help those in crisis regain their self-respect and help them become productive members of society.  With the help of countless volunteers and donors, Mamma’s Hands has grown into a powerful force for good in the Seattle area.  We hope you will take time to explore this site.
