It can be really hard to explain everything that’s happening in the world to kids…Sesame Street is here to help!

Sesame Street unveiled a timely adaptation to the popular “People in Your Neighborhood” song featuring Elmo, Abby and Grover. The new song titled “Heroes in Your Neighborhood” is part of Sesame Street’s ongoing “Caring for Each Other” Initiative which aims to “help children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.” The song is the latest effort by the show to educate kids about the ongoing health crisis.

“Heroes in Your Neighborhood” features many real-life heroes- doctors & nurses, grocery store workers, first responders, and pharmacists. The song aims to teach kids that there are heroes all around them working together to help the nation through this pandemic.

Sesame Street Communities has a library of free resources for parents and kids to help them navigate the pandemic. There are activities, videos and printables for kids of all ages to help them manage worry, learn the importance of handwashing, how to deal with missing their friends, learning from home, and more.

These are uncertain times, but we are in this together. Leave us a comment to share how you are talking to your kids about the health crisis!
